I'm Coming Out

With my face that is. I haven't ever put pictures of myself on my blog before. The first picture below is of me and my luvie. Isn't he a cutie? This is of my 32nd birthday (gasp!). I sometimes can't believe I'm that old. Oh well, I've had a great life thus far, so I guess it only gets better from here.

This picture is from our Jamaican vacation. We were obviously out to dinner. One of the best we had while on our vacation.

This was the view from our balcony. We never made it to the private island other than to have dinner. It seemed like a hassle to go to the island during the day.

These guys were allowed to roam around the grounds and in the buildings. There was a male with a full tail of feathers. I wanted a picture but never got one.

This was one of the magnificent views that we had on our horse back ride tour. It was fun, but this was the first time I had been on a horse. I have to say I'm not sure that this is my sport. I didn't really enjoy it.

Love Love Love These Invitations

I love these invitations. Miss Cupcake over at the Weddingbee designed these herself. I love how she used the bold colors. I think I've told you guys before that our colors are black, white and green. I've been on the fence a little about what green I want, but seeing these has sealed the deal. I really like how un-traditionally vibrant these are. I think our invitations will be elegant, but playful and will probably have some kind of black and white polka dot on them. I designed our save-the-dates. They aren't as ornate as these, but I think they're cute and express my personality.

Distinctively Southern

Boy, two posts in one hour. I'm on a roll.

I've started thinking a lot about our wedding recently. I really want a elegant wedding, but want people to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. My fiance is from Michigan and I would like for all of his friends and family to enjoy all that Greensboro, and the south for that matter, have to offer. I think I've said before that we would like to have our rehearsal dinner at our local baseball stadium. Our back up plan if there isn't a home game that night is to have the rehearsal dinner at a local brewery downtown. There is a third story private room that would be perfect for something laid back. This of course would be complete with beer tasting flights (is this fun or what).

Our ceremony will be held at a local park. I love this park and the fact that we will have to do the bare minimum to make this a stunning ceremony site is definitely a bonus.

Our reception is being held a the newest "boutique" hotel in the city. It is such a cool location. Our wedding colors are white and black with green as our accent color. For our cocktails, I plan to offer NC wines, locally brewed beer and Tom Collins with lime slices as our signature cocktails. For the menu, I would love to have the following:

Appetizers
Fried green tomatoes
Pimento cheese tartlets
Country ham tea biscuits

Main Menu (Stations)
NC BBQ pork tenderloin (east and west coast offerings of course)
Shrimp & Grits
Roast Beef
Salad
Vegetables (I would love to have fancy collard greens or fried okra as an option)

Desert Option
Cupcakes
Banana pudding cups

What do you guys think? Remember, all of this would be prepared with the utmost attention and it wouldn't be tres redneck. I think the fiance is OK with a southern twist, I just want to make sure I'm offering enough options for people. I would love to hear from you ladies. I trust your opinions.

Posh in Green

I wish my office looked like this. I truly heart green. I love the bright energy it provides. It's classic with a twist. Just how I like to see myself. I think I wouldn't mind so much coming to work if I had this to look forward to everyday.

CFL Bulbs

I know buying CFL bulbs is the new eco-conscious thing to do because they use less energy. One thing to consider is that when throwing these bulbs away is that they need to be disposed of properly. I'm sure not many people know that these bubs contain trace amounts of mercury...yes they stuff we have been trying to remove from water sources for years...think tuna. When disposing of these bulbs they shouldn't be thrown away in the regular trash. The mercury levels can leach into landfills if you throw them in the trash. You can find a recycling program in your area by visiting epa.gov/bulbrecycling.

I'll get off my soap box now. I just wanted all to be aware of this, as it seems to be a dirty little secret.

Tagged

I was tagged over a week ago by Muffy Martini to list 5 songs I am embarrassed to admit I like.

*Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
*Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others that you like and tell why.
*Tag 7 random people at the end of post.

1. Ice Ice Baby, by Vanilla Ice (as if y'all didn't know the artist). I know every word of this song...no kidding. I can't get enough of it. Every time it comes on I have to listen the the entire thing. I swear it's like a train wreck that you can't look away from.

2. Islands in the Stream, by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I think I'm going to have to play this at my wedding. It's an inside thing between me and the FI. Every time we get into a fight and we're in the car, all I have to do is play this song and he smiles. I've got his number!

3. Feels So Right, by Alabama. Again, I love this song so much I think I'm going to have to play it our wedding. When the FI moved away last year and we had only been dating for five weeks, I made him a going away CD. And...you guessed it, this song was on the CD. Can you imagine the cheese head he must have thought I was. Oh, and this song also reminds me of childhood. My dad was a big fan.

4. Footloose, by Kenny Loggins. I used to have this tape when I was a kid and spilled coke on it one day. Unfortunately, Footloose does not sound good as a rap song. So a few months back I downloaded the entire CD. God did this bring back memories of childhood. Can you imagine living in a city where you couldn't dance (he he!).

5. Girls Just Want to Have Fun, by Cyndi Lauper (sp ?). This was the ultimate girl movie (well, other than Dirty Dancing, you know what I'm say'n) when I was growing up. I must have watched this 50 times at slumber parties.

I think everyone else has done this. If not, feel free to play along!

U-haul (it your damn self)

A week without me. I missed you, did you miss me? Sorry for the lack of posts, but I was in the middle of moving the FI from Chicago to Nashville last week. I know you're jealous of all my fun (ha ha). He didn't hire a moving company, so we packed up a U-haul and towed it behind the truck. I really believe they should revise their logo to U-haul (it your damn self).

Anyway, on to fun stuff. I'm in love with these cute pillows. I don't think that I'm going to have a ring bearer, but I think these pillows might be cute as a gift for a little girls room or a dainty guest bedroom. There is something so sweet about these pillows. I saw them over at Style Me Pretty. I think I might have a craft project in my future if I can ever find the time.

Hope everyone had a great start to their week. I'm off to the gym. Oh, red & white preppy, my email address is cab.76@hotmail.com.
